I became informed that the alternator is going to be 200 plus labor, and he's also looking for some part that's supposed to have a watertight seal into the back of the alternator (which wasn't proper on mine) to make sure his doesn't go wrong.
Bye-bye cushion :). I'm hoping that with the extra part and labor I won't be staring down more than $300. Hopefully...
Scorch! Pow!

Oh, the alternator. I recall a time where I was driving down to the wonderful metropolis of Bainbridge, GA. I was with Erin, Patty, and Lydia. That very same part broke while we were at a Hardee's in Adairsville. Eventually we found some old man who told us he could fix it after a "little bit." Never trust that quantity of time. Very indefinite. Anywho, good memories.
I don't suppose there's any way at this point that we could avoid the labour cost and just install the part ourselves is there? Alternators aren't very tough to change, unless they have already done it... Let me know if you could use a hand...

Oi! I have been involved in more breakdowns involving alternators than I ever wanted to! I remember that time in Georgia- we were stuck for hours in a little tiny town called Adairsville, but eventually made it home thanks to the hard work of retired mechanic Glenn and his brother Doug. And I have now been with Thor for both alternator mishaps. And I can't forget Bea (our lovely old motorhome...) Am I missing any? Probably! May Delores' alternator live forever!
